Zadok Foundation Calls for ‘Healthy, Safe Earth’

Against the backdrop of the World Earth Day, a faith-based organization in Rivers State, Zadok Foundation, has called on governments, corporations and individuals “to invest positively in the planet and make earth a healthy, safe and sustainable place.”

In a statement made available to our correspondent, director of the organization, Prince Michael Aggrey, said this year’s World Earth Day, with the theme ‘Invest in the Planet,’ raises awareness about environmental issues as well as promotes conservation efforts to protect the planet.

Noting that the annual Earth Day event was first held on April 22, 1970 to demonstrate support for environmental protection, Aggrey said that protecting the environment “matters to everyone in the home, workplace and the community.

“On this unique day, Zadok Foundation calls on men, women and youths to do the following: Reduce, reuse and recycle waste in your home; conserve energy at home and workplace, turn off lights and electronics when not in use; reduce paper waste, avoid paper bills and print only important articles and materials.”

He further called for reduction in pollution through recycling old computers, phones etc.

“Clean up plastic in your neighborhood or community; use wildflowers and native plants; stop pesticides and chemicals in your farms; conserve water and plant trees. Get involved in environmental work in your local community. Make your communities greener,” Aggrey said.
