Chris Isibor Receives BUMWAN’s Maritime Pillar Award

Business and Maritime Writers’ Association of Nigeria (BUMWAN) has conferred a  BUMWAN Maritime Pillar Award on Mr. Christopher Isibor Ikekhuamen, director, Terminal Operations, Harritex Services Ltd.

The occasion was a One Day Seminar/ Stakeholders’ Interactive Forum with the theme “Ports Operations and Terminal Operators: Issues of VIN Valuation, National Security and the Role of Stakeholders” organized by BUMWAN in conjunction with the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) in Port Harcourt recently.

Presenting the Award of Excellence to Mr. Isibor, the national secretary of BUMWAN, Pastor Tony Nzekwe said he is being recognized by the association in appreciation of his unalloyed commitment and efficient service delivery in the Nigerian Maritime Industry.

Pastor Nzekwe noted that Isibor has carved a niche for himself in the Maritime Industry particularly in the business of Clearing and Forwarding and hence deserved the award.

Responding, Mr. Chris Isibor thanked the members of BUMWAN for finding him worthy of such prestigious award and promised to keep up the good works.

“I feel very happy to receive this award. In the past decade, I have worked very hard and I have not stopped working hard and my advice to the younger ones looking up to me is for them to keep working hard because hardwork pays”, he said.

He identified the unstable increment of Customs Duty, difficulty in accessing foreign exchange, among others as some of the challenges facing cargo clearance and ports operations in Nigeria and urged the government to encourage those of them in the freight business by looking for a way to make duty a bit favourable for them.

Also given the Meritorious award was Mr. Chukky Njoku, director, Harritex Services Ltd.

Receiving the award, Mr. Njoku appreciated the BUMWAN for deeming him fit for the award and promised to work harder to ensure that the industry keeps growing and keeps getting better.

According to him, “when you are honoured in this manner, you need to appreciate that people recognize you. It means that you are doing something right and also means that you need to improve and do better.

“I therefore assure my continued professionalism to ensure the industry keeps growing and keeps getting better”.
