Ijaw Progressive Forum (IPF) has lauded the judiciary for affirming the outcome of Oporoza Elective Convention that produced Dcn. Peter Timothy Igbifa as the duly elected president of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC).
The group stated this while congratulating the IYC president following his court victories in two separate suits filed against him by one Henry Hart Aladiokuma, aka Ala Hart, and another person, allegedly sponsored by Hon. Udengs Eradiri, through one Keme Doubra, after his declaration as president of IYC in Oporoza Elective Convention.
The judgments were delivered on December 20 and 22, 2021 respectively by Justice E.G. Umukoro in the Bayelsa State High Court, Sagbama Judicial Division, Holden in Yenagoa.
The group called on Ijaw sons and daughters resident in Nigeria and in the Diaspora to rally round Dcn. Igbifa, whom they described as “a vibrant entity that will take Ijaw youths to the next level and reposition the council.”
Earlier, an Ijaw elder, who did not want his name on print, commended the outcome of the judgment, adding that God’s will has prevailed. He called on all Ijaw to support the IYC president for a new direction in defining the Ijaw cause.
