An immediate past SSA to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who is also a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grassroots mobilizer in Ughelli North, Hon. Henry Aluya, has celebrated his mother, Mrs Roseline Emuobor’s 80th birthday anniversary with fanfare.

The event which took place at his mother’s home town, Unenurhie in Evwreni kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State saw top politicians, businessmen and women, community leaders, family members, Mama’s children and loved ones within and outside the state in attendance.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Henry Aluya, who is Mama’s eldest son told the gathering that, his mother is “so lovely and caring,” even in her old age.

Hear him: “My mother is very lovely and caring, even till this moment. She is a lover of children right from her youthful age as a young woman and a full housewife. Now she is old and is a widow.

“She contributed so much to my upbringing as a child. I love the kind of childhood and home training she gave to me when I was a child. Such a training and grooming made me what I’m today. I learnt so much from my lovely mother. This is why we the children decided to honour and celebrate her while still alive. I cherish this birthday celebration than what we termed as befitting burials today.

“There is an Urhobo adage which says that, when a mother takes care of her children to produce teeth, then the children will take care of such a mother to pull teeth at old age. This is the stage our mother is. We shouldn’t forget that love is reciprocal. We, the children of Mama are here paying back to her what she did to us as children. I love my mother dearly.”

Also speaking at the event was Mama’s eldest daughter, Mrs. Patricia Oraka, who described her mother as the ‘Jewel of the Savannah’ and one of the social and cultural mobilizers of Unenurhie community especially during festive seasons.

“One of the fine attributes or virtue of my mother that I also inherited from her was her social status. My mother is a highly social personality. She is a good dancer and a singer especially during festive seasons, funeral or marriage ceremonies. This aspect of her life is so dear to me. This is why even at this old age of 80, my mother is still very strong, happy and very healthy.

“In fact, this birthday celebration is very special and unique to us. Our prayer is that, God should continue to protect and save her for us. I also want to thank all our numerous invitees within and outside the community that took time off to celebrate our mother at 80 years. We shall equally live to old age like her.”

In the same vein, an immediate younger brother to the celebrant who is also well of age, Mr. Robinson Eke, described her eldest sister as the person who had taken over the position of a mother now in his life. He also thanked all the invitees especially the president-general of Unenurhie community, Mr Peter Maison, who led other top community leaders to the event.

The birthday celebration ended with the cutting of the birthday cake by Mama, supported by her children, grand children, great grand children and other family and community members.
