Chief Executive Officer, Brooke House Educational Consult Limited, Lagos, Ifueko Thomas, has urged school administrators to ensure adequate training and retraining of teachers, adding that the knowledge of students is directly proportional to their teachers. She said: “Teachers must be regularly trained and motivated to apply 21st century teaching skills as only when this strategy is deployed can Nigeria, as a country hope to benefit from the set standard and harness goals of education.” Thomas, who spoke with journalists at the school’s open day said that with a mission to learn, lead, succeed, the school is determined to set in motion a quality cultural reorientation that would spur the pupils to be proud of their heritage. She said that the objective  of establishing the school’s crèche, nursery, primary and afterschool centers, is to raise a new generation of intellectually astute leaders, with high moral and ethical values. Thomas, who posited that Nigeria’s educational curriculum is very rich in content, added that it is among the best in the world. She explained that the curriculum is well loaded academically, morally adding that the challenge is in the quality of its delivery. ‘’The standard has been set already, but meeting the set standard by schools is the challenge,’’ she said. She maintained: “We will achieve this by encouraging an eclectic curriculum that ensures the accommodation of each child’s individual learning preferences. Brook House lessons, which will be founded on the nine-year basic education curriculum, will incorporate aspects of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the Montessori and High Scope Programme and the Reggio Emilia Approach.” According to her, the school is committed to the highest standards of health, safety and care of the children, adding that its goal of promoting effective teaching practices leading to increased student learning and performance would place it in a unique position to provide an unmatched learning experience for the children.
