Rivers Emerges Top Contender in ‘Strongest State Nigeria’

Rivers State might likely emerge winner of the ‘Strongest State Nigeria’ (SSN) event, if all goes according to the expectations of members and handlers of SSN Team Rivers.

Already, the state, represented by King Bob Friday and Queen Benedicta P. TomWest, is placed second on the chart, and shows promise of clinching the coveted prize.

All that is required, according to the SSN National camp commandant, Amb Millicent Jack, is for Rivers people to support their winning team.

Addressing a press briefing on the nature and rationale behind the event, in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Amb. Jack, described Nigeria’s experience in the global cultural space as both unique and challenging, adding that “Blessed with diverse cultural identities, both in language and behavior, its people are very much viewed as culturally rich globally.”

“However, recent studies reveal that due to clash of cultures, some of Nigeria’s unique cultural heritages are under threat. It is therefore our responsibilities to protect and salvage Nigeria’s cultural resources,” she said.

Amb Jack noted that in view of this, Mega Solo Movie Academy designed ‘The Strongest State Nigeria’ reality TV show with the aim of promoting Nigeria’s culture, unity, love and peaceful coexistence amongst Nigerians.

“SSN reality TV platform is established to showcase our rich cultural value, strength, peace and unity in diversity. Our dear Rivers and 35 other states, and the Federal Capital Territory – Abuja, are represented in this wonderful initiative,” she said.

The camp commandant expressed the belief that SSN reality show, with its rich cultural content, will one day come to serve as alternative to some popular foreign reality shows viewed in Nigeria today, which she described as lacking in cultural and moral content.

SSN means the ‘Strongest State in Nigeria’. It is a TV reality show designed to strengthen the unity of the country. The project is an annual event hosted in Nigeria to commemorate the strength, unity and love amongst the 36 states of the federation. Every season, each state selects two representatives (a male and female) that are bold, strong and intelligent, of the ages 18 years and above to represent the state.

The 72 contestants compete on a quest to find the trophy of unity to unite the country.

Rivers State has King Bob Friday and Queen Benedicta TomWest flying its flag at the event, and is presently placed second on the chart.
