The Women Development Council of the Mbaise Global Foundation has declared war on female trafficking in Mbaise, launching a major awareness campaign to protect girls and secure the future of the community.
The Council raised alarm over the rising tactics of traffickers who lure victims with fake job offers, social media promises, and the deception of a better life in the city.
“Mbaise women, Mbaise girls, our daughters are precious. Traffickers hide in lies and false promises. Together, we can stop this,” the Council said.
As part of the intervention, the Foundation said it will take its Community Awareness Campaign on Female Trafficking to all three LGAs of Mbaise, Imo State qin October 2025.
According to the campaign schedule, the awareness will kikstart on Saturday, 11th October 2025, at St. Brigid’s Parish Hall, Nnarambia, Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise before while Saturday, 18th October 2025, they will be at Chapel of Truth Auditorium, Aboh Mbaise. Saturday, 25th October 2025, they will gather at the Local Government Headquarters, Itu, Ezinihitte Mbaise at 10:00 am daily.
The Foundation noted that the campaign will feature renowned speakers and legal advisers from the Imo State Ministry of Women Affairs, FIDA, the Social Development Department, and Owerri Municipal Council.
Participants will be taught practical steps to protect girls, identify red flags, understand traffickers’ traps, and build resilience in communities.
“Our daughters are NOT FOR SALE! Their bodies, their voices, and their futures belong to them,” the Council emphasized.
The Women Development Council further called on traditional rulers, churches, schools, youth groups, and all Mbaise indigenes to attend and join the fight to end female trafficking in Mbaise.
