President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, has reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advancing women through strategic partnerships that promote enterprise development, innovation and capacity building.

‎Dr. Nwoga made this known at the Women Entrepreneurs Accelerate Africa (WEAA) Capacity-Building Summit, organised by Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland in collaboration with Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce in Port Harcourt.

‎The programme attracted PHCCIMA members, women entrepreneurs, professionals, start-up founders and business owners from diverse sectors, all united by a shared vision of strengthening women’s participation in economic development.

‎In her address, Dr. Nwoga stated that PHCCIMA remains committed to creating an enabling environment where women are equipped and supported to thrive. She stressed that genuine empowerment extends beyond rhetoric and symbolic representation, noting that, “true empowerment means dismantling double standards and ensuring that opportunities are earned through demonstrated skill, value and capability.”

‎ She added that empowered women are powerful drivers of innovation, economic growth and sustainable development. Dr Nwoga was full of praise for the organizers of the programme, saying such values are what attracted PHCCIMA when the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland delegation came calling.

‎The summit featured practical sessions on Artificial Intelligence for Small Businesses, Financial Management and Market Intelligence, equipping participants with strategies to improve productivity, strengthen financial discipline and make informed business decisions.

‎The event followed an earlier courtesy visit by the WEAA delegation, which included Dr. Chioma Onoshakpor, Project Lead of the initiative and Lecturer in Management and Entrepreneurship at Robert Gordon University, during which both parties explored avenues for collaboration to advance women’s entrepreneurship in Rivers State.

‎Dr. Onoshakpor described WEAA as a transformative platform designed to bridge critical skills gaps among women-led enterprises across Africa, enabling them to adapt, innovate and compete effectively.

‎Participants praised the initiative for its practical value and relevance, while the successful summit further underscored PHCCIMA’s role in fostering global partnerships that empower local businesses and drive sustainable economic growth.
