The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured that his administration will continue to prioritize peace and prosperity of the citizens, including the welfare of Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the State.
Governor Fubara stated this on Monday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, when he addressed the Corps Members and declared the orientation course opened.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Samson Dede, Sir Fubara, further assured of his administration’s “unwavering determination and commitment to supporting the operations of the NYSC Scheme in the State.”
He concluded by charging the Corps Members to “take the skill acquisition training very seriously as well as participate actively in all camp activities and programmes.”
In his address, Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe advised the Corps Members to see their posting to Rivers State as a “rare privilege and the best opportunity for self-discovery and improvement.”
He appreciated the Governor for the donation of a total of brand new 2500 mattresses for Corps Members use, noting that Rivers State is now the “preferred destination by Corps Members nationwide.”
He further appreciated the good people of Rivers, security agencies, leaders of the host communities, and critical stakeholders for unwavering and unflinching support to the NYSC Scheme and Corps Members in the state.
A total of 3,512 Corps Members made up of 1572 males and 1940 females were sworn in at the ceremony by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, represented by Justice Prince Mini.
