Rotary Club of Trans Amadi Empowers 100 Skills Acquisition Graduands

No fewer than 100 persons comprising of men and women living in Okuru-Ama Community in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area  have  benefitted from a one month free vocational training and skills acquisition programme organized by Rotary Club of Trans Amadi District 9141 Nigeria in collaboration with Global Craft Technology Development Limited, providing the manpower.

‎The one month intensive training/skill acquisition programme which was held at Okuru Ama community Town Hall also featured crane operation, fork lift operation, scaffolding, solar PV installation and maintenance, web development, content creation, video editing, AI master class, make-up and gele craft, Hair dressing  and styling, fashion design and garment making.

‎Speaking to newsmen during the closing ceremony of the programme on Monday February 16, 2026, the President of Rotary Club of Trans Amadi District 9141 Nigeria, Rotarian Ben Orabueze said that he was so excited with the successful conclusion of the one month programme, aimed at training both the young and elders to enable them acquire enough skills thereafter go out to look for jobs so as to make money to help themselves and also take care of their families.

‎ ”In fact, I’m urging  all the trainees to do well to make use of this opportunity to go out from the community and canvass for job to make money and bring back to community so as to improve the economic situation in area.

‎“Again, as Rotarians, we are desirous to empower the trainees to make money so that they can afford to pay their bills and equally help their younger ones as well as their relations to also make their own money’’ Rotarian Orabueze confidently added.

‎The Rotarian boss, however, expressed satisfaction with the warm reception accorded to them by the good people of Okuru Ama community.

‎His words; “the Okuru Ama community has been very receptive and hospitable, I can recall that when we did our Safe motherhood project here in this community, we were treated well and there is no way we would have come back here again if we were not well received”

‎“Interestinly, I can assure you that we are happy even with the conduct of the students as nobody was reported to have caused any problem all through the one month skills duration of the training programme.

‎“Truly, from the testimony received so far, reveal that most of the trainees actually took the training so seriously and I’m sure they must have acquired a lot that will sustain them in life as they so out”.

‎In his contribution, a representative from the Okuru Ama community, Tamunosaki thanked members of Rotary Club of Trans Amadi for always visiting their community with life touching project while praying God so to reward them abundantly in all their endeavors.

‎High point of the programme was the presentation of competence of certificates given to all the participants by the club president Rotarian Ben Orabueze, on behalf of Rotary Club of Trans Amadi District 9141 Nigeria.
