A group, the Niger Delta Media Forum has bestowed on Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello an award of Distinguished Security Icon for distinguishing himself in the discharge of his responsibilities to the Nigerian army and the country in general.
According to the chairman of the organization Prince Gbasam while presenting the award at a brief ceremony held in the office of the recipient, said Brigadier General Bello was honored in recognition for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the fight against crime and criminality especially in combating illegal oil theft and bunkering activities in the Niger Delta which have impacted positively in the oil production and revenue profile of the country.
Brigadier General Bello who is the Commander, 6 Division Garrison Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Joint Task Force, South South Operation Delta Safe has since assuming office demonstrated enormous capacity in delivering on his mandates by ensuring collaboration with other sister agencies to effectively reduce the incidences of oil bunkering activities to the barest minimum.
According to some of the officers and men of the command who spoke to this medium on the condition of anonymity described Brigadier General Bello as a thorough bred soldier who has a knack for excellence in whatever responsibility he finds himself, and said the garrison command under his leadership has witnessed effective reforms in service delivery and pledged their continued support for him to achieve set objectives.
Responding Brigadier General Bello expressed appreciation to the Niger delta media forum for finding him worthy of the award assuring that he will continue to do his best in the interest of the nation.
He pledged to collaborate with other sister agencies in ensuring that the menace of oil bunkering activities and pipelines vandalism are brought to a halt and called on the media to partner with the command to achieve set objectives.
