The President of TDAN, subdivided into 5 zones, Comrade Emeka Ibe has stated reasons why he has taken a bold step in sponsoring the grassroot football competition tagged TDAN Unity Soccer Cup among traders doing business close to St. John’s Campus along Aba Road axis.
Fielding questions from sportwriters, Comrade Ibe remarked that his burning drive in sponsoring the competition was in tandem with his electroneering promises made to unite all the traders more if he eventually voted into office as President of the Union.
His words, “if I’m elected int office as President, I’m going to unify the union with a football cup tournament having seen that sports, particularly football is one game that brings Nigerians together and also speak the same language in the whole world”.
“Besides, the football competition will go a long way in helping the traders to ease off some of their stress after the end of the day’s hustles of work even to an extent, help in keeping the youths busy away from partaking in some social vices capable to ruin their lives”.
“Indeed, I have critically seen some natural talented young players, if spotted and properly harness their skills very well, they could turn out to be great footballers in near future”.
Comrade Ibe, who is also the President of African United All Stars FC, however, commended the organizing Committee of TDAN Unity Cup led by Comrade Chinedu Ezeugo for the good work they have been doing towards ensuring that traders football competition (TDAN) records a huge success even though according to him, there was a strict warning and heavy penalty that awaits anyone cupable of fighting during or after the game at st. John’s College Campus.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Comrade Chinedu Ezeugo has showered praises on the cup donor for seeing reasons in donating the soccer cup basically to foster unity among the traders within St. John’s Campus Aba Road.
“Indeed, Comrade Ibe is an ex-soccer star and also a happy jolly friend, who is being loved by all the traders, following his philantropic and accessibility style of life, little wonder he was undisputedly voted as President of TDAN during the election”, he unmistakably stated.
The visibly elated Organizing Committee Chairman further expressed satisfaction with the standard of the game and play exhibited by the players so far as well as the conduct of the soccer fans who have been coming out in their numbers to grace the competition.
