The Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education(IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Prof Ibiere Ken- Maduako, says that the vision of President Bola Tinubu and Governors of the 36 States, including the Federal Capital Territory should be primarily, to ensure that Nigerian youths become successful entrepreneurs in agriculture.
Speaking with PH Mundial in Port-Harcourt on the need to encourage Nigerian youths’ to become successful agriculture entrepreneurs, Ken- Maduako said through the Ministry of Agriculture, government should transform the Nigerian farmers into entrepreneurs.
She reiterated that the Tinubu’s administration should be ready to revamp the lost glory of agricultural revolution and development in Nigeria.
”The Federal Government through its Ministry of Agriculture is expected to transform the farmers into an entrepreneurs.
” Nigeria used to be a major force and player in the world of agriculture. In the 1960s, we had glory, and , we as a people are about to revamp that status in Nigeria”, emphasized Ken- Maduako.
The professor of Pragmatics in Communication stressed that, “it should be the vision of the Ministry to ensure that youths in Nigeria become successful entrepreneur in agriculture”.
According to her, “Tinubu and the State Governors, including, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, should unequivocally be interested in addressing and encouraging Nigerians, especially, the youths to move into agriculture as the road to diversifying the economy, earning foreign exchange, creating employment, and wealth, as well as, improving their standards of living’.
The erudite scholar urged the Agriculture Ministry to effectively translate the President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the revival and transformation of the Agriculture sector into a viral engine of growth and accelerated national development through the articulation and presentation of a roadmap for the sector, which, she said, is the green alternative.
Ken- Maduako also added that President Bola Tinubu’s goal in the agricultural sector need to build an agro-based economy that could go into massive food production and security for the well-being of the populace and encourage youths through multi-dimensional supports to become entrepreneurs.
”As mentioned by Mr President, and as currently reflected on the roadmap, the goal should be to build an agro-busimess economy capable of producing food and nutrition security, generating exports to boost the country’s revenue base. And the promotion of youths entrepreneurship in agriculture. Exactly, what we expect presently.
”This ought to be the vision of the Ministry of Agriculture both in the federal, state and local governments, to make sure youths gets into agriculture in a sustainable manner,” she added.
To achieve this laudable objective of quality entrepreneurship of the youths to become more prosperous and productive agriculture experts, she admonished Nigerian leaders and government at all levels, to set machinery in motion to bring this to positive and proactive realization for peace to reign in the country.
