The installation of the 60 megawatts gas Turbines in Bayelsa state has not only reached 85 percent , but when completed will revamp the state economy, as many investors that have left the state will come back , as it will attract investors from neighbouring states.
This was disclosed by the Technical Adviser to the governor on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Wisdom Ikuli while fielding questions from Journalists shortly after conducting them round the project at Elebele, Yenagoa.
According to him, Bayelsa aquired eight units of gas turbines out of which six have arrived, and the remaining two are being expected soon.
”Two transformers, switch gears and some other components have been installed, as efforts are being intensified to meet the December 2025 promised by Governor Douye Diri.
” The power that the governor promised before the end of this year, there will be 24 hour of uninterrupted electricity in Bayelsa state is gradually coming to reality. And we are going to have a multiplier effects, a multitude of people will come into Bayelsa , and business will boom.
” People will relocate from neighbouring states to Bayelsa state. Hospitality business will improve tremendously and we must continue to thank the miracle governor.In the next few months power will come, and you will see that this is not an audio project.
” Power is a general problem in Nigeria, but we are very sure of power with Governor Douye Diri, and that is in consonance the governor, s mantra of Assured prosperity ”
On whether consumers will pay for electricity , he rhetorted” Is there any part of the country where power is free . Even people in Aso Rock pay for electricity.
”So for me it is a new dawn, remember that light is life, and Governor Douye Diri has come to give us light and God is using him to give us new life”
Meanwhile, the Director of Operations, Bayelsa State Electricity Company Limited, Engr Steve Bubagha corroborated that installation of the gas turbines was already 85 percent completed and metering of the state would be more affordable to Bayelsans.
