The Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari), Da Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakar Dokubo-Asari, Dabaye Amakiri I, has pledged the sum of Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000,00), to the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Bakana, following an appeal by the church for financial support for the reconstruction and completion of the Archdeacon’s residential quarters, offices and hall.
Speaking during a visit to the Amanyanabo at his Obuama residence, the Vicar of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Bakana and Archdeacon, Kalabari-Toru Missionary Archdeaconry, Ven. Dr. Isobeye Amabibi, while thanking the traditional ruler for his many philanthropic gestures across the length and breadth of Kalabari, appealed for his support to rehabilitate the residential quarters of the Archdeacon which has been in a state of dilapidation for many years.
“We are happy with the way you love the Kalabari people. My residential quarters is the dilapidated old building used by our school headmasters which has been in a very bad shape,” he remarked.
The Vicar further disclosed the decision of the church to make Dabaye Amakiri the ‘Father of the Day’ at the forthcoming Adult Harvest/Thanksgiving and Launching of 105 Million Naira (105,000,000,00) Church Hall Project, slated for 26th of October 2025.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings, guidance and protection on the Amanyanabo, noting that the monarch’s generosity towards the church would make his second posting to Bakana a lot easier and comfortable.
On his part, Secretary of the Harvest Planning Committee, Hon. Ilamabo Mirilla expressed gratitude to the Amanyanabo for his profound love for the Kalabari people, which is lavishly extended to the people of Bakana, most of whom are his close aides, such as his Chief of Staff, Head of Administration, Chief Press Secretary, amongst several others.
In his response, Dabaye Amakiri, who made the donation of N50million assistance to the church, thanked them for their continued prayers and goodwill.
