The Assistant Administrator of the Assumpta Catholic Cathedral, Owerri, Imo State, Rev. Fr. Christopher Nwafor has stressed the need for every living soul to live a godly and Christian life so that they could receive the salvation of God after death.
Rev. Fr. Nwafor gave the charge at the 6th Memorial Service and seminars in honour of Late Prof. Herbert Orji in Owerri recently.
Prof. Orji who was a former chairman of the National Broadcasting Commission NBC, former adviser to the Abia State Government and former Managing Director of the defunct Progress Bank, passed on in January 2019 at the age of 70.
Eulogizing the late professor, the clergyman advised Christians to always acknowledge their Creator while alive and thanked those who attended the memorial service.
Also, widow of Late Prof. Orji, Dr. (Mrs.) Nnenna Orji said that the recent memorial service was an opportunity for the childhood friends of her husband in Owerri to remember and immortalize him, adding that such gathering would make them to remember the way and manner they lived their lives and cherished each other when he was alive.
She pointed out that her family would continue to immortalize the name of her husband through yearly memorial services and seminars stressing that the 6th edition which held in Owerri was to showcase that the late Prof. Orji was born, brought up and schooled in the Owerri metropolis.
While acknowledging Almighty God as the husband of widows, Dr. Orji appreciated Him for protecting the family since her husband’s passing, adding that she would always be grateful to God for His faithfulness, love and mercy towards her and the entire family.
