2023: I will Rescue Deltans from Hardship ~ Ebegba

By Young E. Freeborn, Warri

Director General and chief executive officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) and gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olorogun Dr. Rufus E. Ebegba, has expressed dismay at “the state of affairs, welfare and standard of living in Delta State,” while emphasizing his preparedness to rescue the state from “today’s condition of poverty and economic quagmire.”

He made this known through a statement released from his office.

Dr. Ebegba said, “The fact of what is obtainable today in Delta State makes it very clear to all that there is so much suffering in the state, which ought not to be so.

“In the past 22 years, there has been a dominant leadership structure and clique in the state, which has controlled the affairs and resources of the state. However the discussions in the towns, market places, communities and amongst majority of the citizens inform us of widespread sufferings in the state, which has led to a disenchantment with the present ruling class.

“The idea that Delta is a PDP state is highly erroneous, mischievous and a calculated attempt to pull the wool over the faces of the people.

“Therefore, I make bold to say that Delta State is not a PDP state, and for us who know the potential of Deltans, the time to justify this fact will be at the coming general elections”.

Dr Ebegba urged the people to open their eyes to the reality of what they deserve and hold themselves to more esteem by choosing the right leadership that will create true prosperity, opportunities for all, engender mutual respect, a higher level of ethnic integration/tolerance and work hand-In-hand with the people at every turn.

Dr. Ebegba further said, “The important discussion is how Delta State will leap out of the present condition of mediocrity in governance and administration. The truth is that the time to demand a shift and effect it is now, because our determination is to change the narratives.

“Therefore, another opportunity is here for Deltans to exercise their civic right and freedom to constitute a government of their own choice, and we must seize and make the best of it.

“Deltans must make conscious effort to liberate themselves from the shackles of slavery and economic downturn, by voting the right leaders and avoid receiving money from political merchants who assume the people have sold the government to them,” he said.

Dr. Ebegba’s concern, according to the statement, is to deliver good governance to the people, as well as working to create a sense of pride, sense of belonging and collaboration in the minds of all Deltans.

“I’m prepared to offer that and more by working hand-In-hand with Deltans, to rescue the state from poverty and give hope.”
