As the 2023 general elections draw nearer, a political pressure group, known as Fidelis Adjogbe Support Group, Evwreni Ward chapter, has again convinced electorates in the ward that Delta “is naturally a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state, and no other political party, not even the APC can take it away in the coming general elections.”
This statement was made recently at Evwreni town by the chairman of the political group in Evwreni Ward, Olorogun Johnson Abrucha, who is also the ‘Akpohor’ (Deputy Speaker) of Unenurhie community.
Olorogun Abrucha said, “I want to commend our founder and principal, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe, SSA (political matters) to the Delta State governor for building this political group to support all PDP candidates in the coming elections especially the governorship candidate of the state, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and also the vice presidential candidate of our great party, Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
“As a political group, we are solidly behind them. Our campaign is for all of them to make sure PDP will continue to retain power in Delta State. I always tell people that, Delta is naturally a PDP state. No other political party, not even the APC can take over the state government.
“The records and the achievements of the party in every government in the state since 1999 are on ground for all to see. They are tangible set of achievements. These achievements will definitely speak and campaign for all our candidates. Without meeting a soothsayer or seer, we already know that Delta State is PDP,” he said.
Also speaking during the meeting, a popular youth leader in the support group, Comr. Friday Diamond aka ‘Ogbo’ who is also the chairman of Unenurhie Vigilante Group pointed out what he described as some of the weaknesses of the APC in the state and the reasons why the party won’t win the coming general elections in the state.
Hear him: “As we speak, PDP has taken over the whole state already. I strongly believe that INEC will conduct free and fair elections through using modern technology this time around. I tell you, APC won’t get one vote in the elections.
“There are reasons for this. For instance, look at their governorship candidate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege. The man is never a generous politician. He’s self-centered. Today, he’s representing only one part of the state at the Senate. Almost all the major federal projects he facilitated to Delta Central senatorial district were sited in his Orogun town. Other projects he was forced to give out to other communities in the senatorial district as means of his campaigns were just solar lights and empowerment programmes. Is this a good leadership quality?
“Now, if he can do this as a senator, tell me, what is he going to do if Deltans make the mistake to vote him as the state governor? Deltans are now wise enough to cast their votes for a credible and trusted governorship candidate like Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP. Evwreni Ward is naturally and originally created for PDP. Nobody can change this political ideology amongst the youths in the ward.”
At the end of the meeting, Fidelis Adjogbe Support Group solicited for more support from their founder and principal, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe and also from the governorship candidate of the party, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other PDP candidates from Ughelli North Constituency 1 to enable the group achieve their set objectives. The group promised the PDP leadership in the state of how they would deliver Evwreni Ward and other electoral wards across the state to PDP during the coming general elections.
