2023: DRM Joins Call on Amaechi to Run for President

A non-governmental organization with its headquarters in Rivers State capital, Dioga Renaissance Movement (DRM), has joined the growing number of groups and individuals urging the minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to run for president in 2023 elections.

The group, with its headquarters in Rivers State capital, rose from a meeting on April 3, 2022, with a unanimous decision to “join dozens of other bodies to call on the best served governor of Rivers State and the super minister of Transportation Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to indicate interest in the presidential seat in Nigeria.”

This decision was made known to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, after the meeting through her media director, Comr. Okuma Michael.

According to Okuma, “Hon. Amaechi is project-oriented and focused; he is tested, trusted and most detribalised public servant.”

National coordinator of the movement, Mr. Stephen Akpelu, said the Ikwerre-born minister “possesses the best qualities any politician would need to reshape Nigeria to a country of our dreams.”

He enumerated the minister’s “amazing track records to include: his roles as a student union leader,  special assistant (SA) to Dr. Peter Odili on students affairs, two-time speaker of the oil rich – Rivers State, two-time governor and now minister of transportation. We are joining millions of other genuine Nigerians to plead with him to heed to the call of the people.”

Akpelu, alongside leader of the group, Dr. Charley Igwe, assured the minister of DRM’s readiness to “champion the campaign.”

The group’s leader, Dr. Charley Igwe, commended the minister for “performing exceedingly well in his assignment as the minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Omudioga-born philanthropist said he is glad with the “unprecedented development brought to the rail transportation system in Nigeria by Amaechi.”
