A socio-political organisation known as Tinubu and Shetima Volunteers of Bayelsa State have called on indigenes and non-indigenes resident in the state to massively vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Alhaji Kashim Shetima in the February 25 elections.
This was just as the group also urged the people of to vote for all APC candidates in the state for the forthcoming elections.
Grand patron of the group and chieftain of the party in the state, Barr Festus Daumiebi, who was the APC’s senatorial candidate for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the 2019 general elections made the call while inaugurating the units, wards and local government areas coordinators of the group for the Asiwaju/Shetima project in Yenagoa, the state capital recently.
Daumiebi reminded the people of how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been given opportunities to develop the country, and particularly the state in the past, alleging that the party “failed completely.”
He said: “Such a political party and its presidential candidate with baggages of multiple corruption allegation and indictments cannot be entrusted with our collective patrimony at this critical time in our history when our nation is struggling with daunting challenges, ranging from the economy to security.
“The harvest of the PDP in 16 years was maladministration and clueless looting of our nation’s treasury,” he said.
The party chieftain emphasised the need for “credible, competent and development oriented leaders like Tinubu and Shetima to be entrusted with the responsibility of building the new Nigeria of our dreams,” adding that “the antecedents of both leaders in their respective states when they held sway as helmsmen makes the duo the best pair for Nigeria.”
The former senatorial standard-bearer called on the people of the state “not to be deceived by the antics of failed politicians” who remember them only during election years, assuring members of the Asiwaju and Shetima volunteers that with the duo as the custodians of Nigeria’s security and economy, a new nation is possible.
