2023: Amaechi Most Qualified for President ~ Tonye Princewill

By Ebube Egbufor

As Nigerians prepare for another round of general elections come 2023, minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has been described as the best option among politicians being touted as President Muhammadu Buhari’s possible successor.

According to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, Amaechi will do very well as a president if given the opportunity in 2023.

Princewill who spoke recently to news men at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa pointed out that Amaechi’s precedents as a speaker, governor and minister are enough testimonies that he is the Messiah that would take Nigerians to the Promised Land.

He however noted that even though Amaechi has not formally declared his intention to run for the presidency, owing to the fact that he is still busy working as a minister, he would have the support of Nigerians if he finally does.

“Amaechi for now is just focused on working as a minister but some of us who know his capabilities are angling for him to come out. Somebody who led all the  speakers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for eight years, was chairman of Governors’ Forum for eight years and is currently the best performing minister, what is he waiting for?

“So we’re the ones pushing him and he told us to wait that he has to focus on his job for now. By God’s grace he will agree to run for the presidency”, he said adding that the minister would surely get the support of Nigerians judging from the attendance recorded at his recent turbaning ceremony in Katsina State.

Asked whether the skirmishes in the APC, especially in Rivers State, won’t affect their chances of winning elections, Princewill said that even though the APC has some internal squabbles, just like any other political party, all they need is unity of purpose to win any election.

On his ambition to lead Rivers State come 2023, the Kalabari Prince said he is most likely to contest the gubernatorial seat but has to consult stakeholders before making his intent known.

Speaking on rotational governorship in Rivers State, Princewill said he believes in having the right man or woman for the job but was quick to add that the call for a Riverine governor is not out of place as their brothers from the Upland have had it for up to three consecutive tenures and urged the later to support any Riverine candidate who wants to contest.
