Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to the Senator Magnus Abe faction of the party in Rivers State have thrown their full weight in support of Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The APC members in their numbers made the declaration of their commitment to Tinubu’s ambition Sunday, at a rally and inauguration organised by Bola Ahmed Tinubu Support Vanguard (BATS-V) held at Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
Some of the APC chieftains at the rally include, former senators, House of Representative member, former Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Otelemabe Amachree and other Assembly members, former chief of staff, Government House under the administration of Chibuike Amaechi, Tony Okocha, former attorney general of the state, Worgu Boms and other party faithful loyal to Senator Abe.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Chidi Wihioka, said Senator Tinubu rescued them in 2014 when they were being intimidated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said Tinubu will solve the problem of Nigeria, being that the presidency has been his life-long ambition.
He said: “We stand by Tinubu and by Tinubu we will continue to stand because this is a man after bring governor for eight years has never aspired to be minister, senator, vice president or take any appointment, instead has always nominated people to such positions.
“We are not aware that someone from Ikwerre wants to become the President of this country. All of our votes in Ikwerre will be for Tinubu come 2023.
“Amaechi wants to change history by saying claiming that Ikwerre is Igbo, we are not Igbo. Every support of BAT should be assured of votes from Rivers for BAT.”
Also, the Rivers State Coordinator of BATS Vanguard, Chief Tony Okocha, revealing the historical formation of APC in Rivers, stressed the need for their support on Tinubu ahead of 2023.
“Our business is to sell BAT and we want Rivers State to be part of our story. BAT will become President come 2023. BAT rescued us in 2014 when we were being pummel daily by the PDP.”
A former speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Otelemaba Amachree, urged the stakeholders to forget the past, but put efforts into ensuring the emergency of BAT as the President in 2023.
“We all should see this as our own personal project. We must put every effort to ensure that BAT and Senator Magnus Abe are at Aso Rock and at the Brick House come 2023.”
Meanwhile, the global chairman of BATS Vanguard, Dr Dare Owotomobi, who was at the rally, commended the people of Rivers State for their support for BAT.
Owotomobi said “I want to assure you that Rivers State is recognise as a home state for Tinubu.The principal will not disappoint them the request for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run as a president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is running and is going to be laud”.
