2019: No Parent Will Pay School Fees In Rivers ~ Elekima

Chief Precious Elekima, governorship aspirant on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State has said that education will be given top priority if he wins the 2019 governorship election, adding that primary to tertiary institution will be tuition-free.

Elekima, who said he will embark on major structural repairs, maintained that wrong applications by past leaders contributed to the failed system

He noted that most Nigeria leaders do not understand the true meaning of democracy, but applauded Late Chief Melford Okilo, former governor of Rivers State, as the only leader who understood democracy. He said the absence of the third-tier of government is affecting governance, describing the centralized system which allows governors to control all the revenue as fraudulent.

Elekima further stated that the third tier of government does not need constitutional amendment and therefore should be autonomous in all ramifications. He promised to set up committees in all wards in various communities in the state to allow for equal participation in governance, while resources will be given to them to carry out projects in their domains.

As he put it, “We need capacity to run the state, too much mediocrity is taking place “. He frowned at big fraud going on in contract manipulation, saying it will stop as soon as he emerges, pointing out that the huge task will be improved health care, housing, adequate transport system and others.

The governorship hopeful lauded Comrade Sam Ateke, House of Assembly aspirant for Port Harcourt City Constituency II on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), describing him as a fine representative whose maturity and ideas will be brought to bear at the Hallowed Chambers.

Earlier, the aspirant under the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for PHALGA Constituency 2, Sam Ateke has assured his constituents of effective and dynamic representation, saying he will enact laws that will have direct bearing on the people.

Ateke who is the chairman of Belema Polo and chairman of all Polo chairmen in PHALGA noted with passion that he will promote solid foundation for projects in the constituency, said he will liaise with relevant authorities in government to bring even development to the people. A Port Harcourt socialite, Sam Ateke has carved a niche for himself by embarking on numerous projects in his community. Among the many projects he executed include Over 10-kilometre walkway, standard pier toilet, electrification of the area with erection of street lights, youth empowerment etc.

The legislator to be is described by many enthusiasts as a beacon of hope and grassroots mobilizer who knows the pains of the people and how to fix it. “He is tested and trusted and our reliance on him is non-negotiable,” an aged man said
